WATER INTERRUPTION UPDATE

Nelson Mandela Bay would like to inform residents and businesses that water situation remains critical and constrained. Most affected areas continue to get intermittent water supply, low pressure and no water. Demand on the reticulation continue to be high and consumers advised to drastically cut their water usage.  The metro daily consumption must be reduced from average of 300 ML to average 250ML. This actually means each person must use less than 50 litres of water per day. This reduction will stabilize our supply.

Water trucks will continue to be positioned on the areas communicated below. They will be stationed from 08h00 to 21h00. Please note that trucks will have to fill up time and again and we will device a mechanism to notify public if truck is filling.

The following areas are affected:

  • Walmer Heights
  • Walmer
  • Charlo
  • Newton Park
  • Cotswold
  • Fairview area
  • North End
  • Sydenham
  • Gelvandale
  • Algoa Park
  • New Brighton
  • Mill Park
  • Parts of Zwide

To assist the residents of the affected areas, water tankers are being deployed as follows:

  • Greenacres Hospital – Parking lot
  • Dischem – 2nd Avenue
  • Builders Warehouse – Walmer Heights
  • Fairview area
  • Cotswold – Mooregrove Primary School

Other water tankers are positioned in other areas with water disruption challenges:

  • Tambo Village
  • KwaNobuhle Area 11
  • Mahashe – Joe Slovo
  • Kingston – Joe Slovo
