TASK Grade 11 (R341 448 – R474 720 per annum)

(Basic salary only, excluding benefits)


Qualifications and experience required: 

  • National Diploma in Environmental Health.
  • Registration with the Health Professional Council of SA.
  • Registered Peace Officer.
  • A valid Code B/EB Driver’s Licence (the incumbent will be required to obtain a municipal driver’s licence during the probationary period).


Key attributes and competencies:  

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be physically fit and able bodied.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Sound working knowledge of the acts governing general food safety, noise pollution control, exhumation and traditional circumcisions.


Job purpose: 

  • Undertaking and performing professional tasks/activities associated with plans and programmes designed to accomplish service delivery objectives in respect of Environmental Health Services encapsulated in the NMBM Integrated Development Plan through operations associated with the enforcement of laws and by-laws.
  • Maintaining the health and safety of the public by limiting detrimental environmental factors through continuous alertness and inspections related to food safety security, shelter security, water and sanitation security, atmospheric and noise pollution, pest and animal control, contagious diseases and health education, improving the quality of life, which is determined by physical, chemical, biological and social factors in the environment.
  • Performing related administrative and personnel functions.


As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
